ShapeDrawing Challenge ✏️

A Small, Flexible Drawing Routine

A routine can make tools easy to find without turning art into a daily completion requirement. Keep the first action simple and give the artist a way to pause while an idea is still unfinished.

Try a practical approach

Prepare a small setup

Keep one book, a pencil, and spare paper together. Choose a starting shape or a reference task, then ask whether today is for trying one idea or returning to an earlier sketch. Put the date on the sheet only if keeping a record is useful to the artist.

Let the next session follow interest

A picture can remain an outline or become a colored character later. If the current subject stops being interesting, change the theme or try a different method. The useful habit is having an accessible opportunity to draw, not keeping a perfect streak or filling a fixed number of pages.

Keep the next idea open

Shape Drawing Challenge gives artists 16 repeated beginnings, six illustrated examples per shape, and room for 480 independently chosen drawings.

Try the separate website exercise or print the website idea planner.
