Try the reference task before deciding
Baby Animals begins with recognizable outlines for tracing. Compare that supplied starting picture with a simple blank shape when deciding how much guidance a young animal fan wants at the art table.
Printing the whole picture
Use portrait orientation and fit the original image to your printer’s usable area. Avoid a crop-to-fill setting. Keep a grid reference and blank worksheet at the same scale. Use spare paper when the sample is a construction reference.
Keep reference and invention separate
After the actual sample task, choose whether a new idea on your own outline sounds interesting. Compare these two purposes before treating a reference book as an invention prompt.

Keep the next idea open
Shape Drawing Challenge gives artists 16 repeated beginnings, six illustrated examples per shape, and room for 480 independently chosen drawings.
