Trace Then Color: Mermaids, Unicorns, And Other Cute Stuff
Mermaids, Unicorns, and Other Cute Stuff gives a fantasy fan character lines to follow. The tracing task supplies structure; color choices provide a personal finish without becoming a full independent drawing lesson.
Follow the printed character lines, then choose colors.

Understand the first drawing action
Printed outlines change the first action from choosing a picture to following its lines. Trace Then Color supplies 50 characters for ages 3+, followed by the child’s own color choices. An invented picture on spare paper can be another activity when that sounds inviting.
A separate invention invitation
After using a reference, choose whether a new idea on spare paper sounds interesting. An original starting outline can suggest another subject or one small feature. That independent exercise is an optional companion activity, not a feature being added to this book.
Want to decide what the next picture becomes?
Shape Drawing Challenge gives artists 16 repeated beginnings, six illustrated examples per shape, and room for 480 independently chosen drawings.
